a very productive tuesday.

Hey guys!

So today was cram-packed full of activities! I finally woke up early today (7:00) and got so much stuff done that I can’t afford to sleep as much anymore! I met Mary at her house this morning at 7:30 to run. We did a mile in her neighborhood and then she had to get ready for a doctor’s appointment. After our run I stopped by the barbershop and got a quick haircut. Then I traveled over to office depot and made some copies! After this I turned in my application to intern at WXBM and work their events and stuff. It seems like a really cool job, and Lord willing, I’ll be able to work some shows soon! After that I received a call from Pensacola pools who had the filter lid in stock at the Pace location. So I didn’t pay $40 for it… only $33.66 haha. Oh well..

I got all of the above done before noon! I feel so accomplished!

Later I called Tabirtha from work and asked her if she could bring her dog, Taylor, over to our place today. I discussed possibly adopting her because they are moving to Louisiana in two weeks :( So after a while they came over and I immediately fell in love! She has such a good temperament and is so CUTE! She’s staying over at our house tonight! The deal hasn’t been finalized yet, but I’m pretty sure that it is safe to say she is our new dog.

So afterward I had to go into work. It wasn’t a bad shift; I only worked 5 hours. Again lots of cleaning; it’s really starting to look good! Now if we could just get rid of the insect problem..

After work I came home and got cleaned up for a campfire at Caitlin Coleman’s house. It was so nice outside, and the campfire wasn’t too intense; it was just right. We hung out there for a while and then went over to Allie’s for a bit too.

On a different note, and I don’t mean to step on anyone’s toes here, but lately I’ve been searching for the true meaning of friendship (sounds lame, I know, but I’m for real). I’ve compiled a list of qualities that I find not only ideal, but necessary to truly be considered a friend in my eyes. Here it goes:

A true friend…

1. …Is someone who understands all of your inside jokes.
2. …Is someone who might have a different opinion than you, but still respects you and how you feel.
3. …Can talk to you about anything, anytime (and vice versa).
4. …Doesn’t put up a front or facade when around others.
5. …Will call you or visit you when you are clearly not okay.
6. …Doesn’t turn on you. Ever. Period.
7. …Smiles when they see you somewhere. They don’t act like they don’t see you.
8. …Will always be straightforward with you, even if it hurts.
9. …Will not leave you for something or someone better, even if it’s a really awesome party that you were invited to and your friend wasn’t haha.
10. ..Is always your friend, even when it’s not cool.

If I have learned one thing in my life, it is this: good friends are really hard to come by.
Goodnight!

mediocre monday

Hey All!

Well I’m tired and my feet hurt from a long day of work. Seven hours to be exact. It’s cool though because I really need the hours. And I got a raise :D But this is how my day went..

I woke up late again (I have got to quit that) and headed out to Pensacola pools. The filter lid to our pool broke yesterday and I was sent out on the mission to find a replacement. So I get over there and they check their stock. No luck. So they call their Highway 29 location and sure enough.. there were two! Here’s the pisser: they’re $40 apiece. So they expect me to drive all the way out to hwy 29 AND pay $40 for a piece of plastic? I think not. I got them to send it over to the Pace location and it’ll be in Wednesday. We’ll see how much I pay for it..

I then went in to work where a cookie cake was there with my name on it. And I thought they forgot! haha. It was pretty slow, but we have an auditor coming in on Friday so we were all ascrubbin’ ‘till 10. My special task was to scrub the dirt/poop juice from the red chairs. It made the time fly by. Even though it was an unappetizing night I kind of liked working tonight.. I know weird right?

So another uneventful day in the life of Kyle Cox. I’m gonna read a little now. Peace.

Goodnight!

Your Birthday's Over... NOT!

Hey All!

Ok so I’m really tired but I had an awesome day; God definitely deserves some praise!

A phone call from Allie woke me up this morning. She wanted me to ride with her to church. So we had a good time on the way down to Gulf Breeze, and an even better time at church. Pastor John continued talking about how Jesus’ ministry took a sharp turn in Luke 9; he put more power in the hands of the disciples and began to let them minister to people. We also talked about the transfiguration of Jesus and how it had a significant impact on each disciple that witnessed it. He also discussed faith and how each disciple that witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration had to stand up for their faith- even when taunted by death. It was a truly moving service for me; we had communion and while waiting for everyone to be seated I just looked around at all of God’s creation: the grass, trees and plants outside the windows, the breeze moving them, and all of the volunteers in the church, dedicated to serving Christ. It then hit me that it’s time for me to step up and be the man that God has called me to be. I’m tired of being an immature, lackadaisical Christian. I am determined to grow in my walk with the Lord, and yes I will make some sacrifices. I will hold my tongue, live honorably, and be a better friend. But I will not hang out with people that bring me or my Jesus down. I’ve had enough of that. It’s time for me to grow up.

After church Allie, Logan and I went out to the beach and chilled- I mean roasted- for a few hours. The water had cooled off a bit, and I had a great time.

This is where the fun begins: So we are on our way home from the beach and Allie says she has a surprise for me. I give her a hard time about it, telling her that if it’s homemade she can keep it haha. Well we get to Allie’s house and I got a shower, and then she’s like, “Okay we have to go get your surprise now!” So they proceed to blindfold me (kudos to David; I couldn’t see a thing) and off we go, kidnapped in the backseat of Allie’s car. After a few minutes of driving around we stop. They lead me out of the car and open a door. When I took off my blindfold I realized it was a surprise birthday party! It was so much fun and tons of food. We played corn hole and “Things” and before I knew it, we’d been partying for six hours haha. So some folks headed out, but the rest of us went over to Allie’s and watched Diary of a Mad Black Woman. I love that movie. After it was over I got really tired, and now I’m here typing, running on fumes haha. I gotta get some rest. Thanks for a great time tonight everybody! It was nice to have a decent get together one last time before everyone goes away to college and leave me all alone with Allie :\ (Just playing, but really…)

Goodnight!

birthday.

Hey all!

So I had a perfect birthday! Not an ideal birthday, but a perfect one.
I slept in till about 11:30, and when I woke up mom had eggs on the table for me! It was very nice, and then she told me that dad locked himself out of his car all the way at the pier (he was fishing with some church buddies). So I had to go bring him the spare key. It was an hour and a half round trip but it was okay because I got the new rascal flatts cd for my birthday so I got to listen to it.

The beach was so nice today! The sun was strong but it was perfect weather. I'm so glad I’m staying home for college. I’m going to the beach tomorrow after church. Not many Americans can say that!

So I couldn’t stay at the beach today because I had to go into work at three. I know, right? Working on my 18th birthday… It’s cool. I need the hours anyway. But on break Allie brought in a cake for me. She’s such a great friend :)

After work Mary, Logan, Allie and I chilled for a while. I bought my first scratch off lottery tickets and I won one dollar! WHOO!!! I spent four so as of right now I'm negative three…

And now I’m here. I’m going to bed, and you should do the same!
He Lives!

Twas the night before my brithday...

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. I could make up an excuse that just might fool you, but I'm not. I’ve been lazy haha.

So tomorrow’s my birthday, but I’m working. So my family and I went out to eat tonight at Jasmine Fusion. That place is the BOMB! Afterwards I went over to Allie’s and caught the tail-end of a movie with Mary, Allie, Logan, and Allie’s crazy mom. She is crazy. We also played with David’s grandson Jesse who is a very good dancer and an even better singer! Haha. Afterwards we went party hoppin’… actually we just drove to chili's because Mary just had to have a volcano cake. So after much deliberation we went back to home base (aka allies house) and just chilled. Logan challenged me to a wrestling match which any witness would tell you I won ;) after that we called it quits and headed home.

Tonight made me realize two things:
1. I have really good friends. I need to savor them while I can because they will be gone in less than a month!
2. I am SO ready to begin a new chapter in my life! Although I do love my many friends, I feel that it is time to start over; start fresh. God doesn’t give you many opportunities to “reset,” so when He does, I am going to take advantage of it.

Well, I am going to bed. Early run with Mary in the Morning!
Goodnight,
Kyle

same old, same old...

Hey all,

So today was just another summer day; I woke up late, took a shower, etc, etc. But there were a few unique events…

I got my monthly allergy shot today. And yet again I had an allergic reaction to it :) The bump is HUGE but it’ll swell down soon.

I had to go in to work at three today, and it wasn’t bad. We had a good crew and a lot of people tonight, ten in fact. We got stuff done (even though we slacked a bit towards the end haha) and got out at a reasonable time.

Then I went over to Logan and Chelsea’s house for a swim and some rather odd cucumber salad stuff. It was different, but good :)

And then as I was getting ready to leave I wasnt watching where I was going and I stubbed my toe. But we’re not talking about a normal stub, I STUBBED my toe. There was blood and a big ole hunk of my toe dangling, but its all good. Cleaned it up when I got home and it doesn’t really hurt so...

That’s about it! I’m going to bed.
Goodnight,
Kyle

sunny sunday

Hey All,

So tonight I totally forgot about my blog but I’m gonna throw it together real quick haha. Okay so here’s how it went down:

I went to church this morning with Logan and Allie. It was really good today; Pastor John read out of Luke 9 and explained to us how Jesus weaned the disciples off of spoon fed ministry and sent them off in all different directions proclaiming the good news of the messiah. I find this to be an amazing parallel with my life; I love where I am at this point in my life but God didn’t create us to be comfortable. We are told by Him in Matthew to go out unto all the world and proclaim! And this is what I aim to do.

After church we went to the beach. I had Flounder’s for lunch; seafood nachos are my new favorite thing :)
It was the perfect beach day; sunny, not too hot, perfect water temperature, and we swam with the rays! Haha

We then went over to Allies house and watched Harry Potter while we were in and out of consciousness. I don’t know what it is about the beach, but I am always tired afterwards. Can I get a witness?!

I then went home for a bite to eat and to do the dishes. Then I get a text from Mary. She wants to run?! What happened to the old Mary we all knew and loved?! Haha just kidding. So we went on a two mile brisk walk and just talked about life and our futures. The perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Well there you have it; my day in a conveniently packed nutshell. Now go to sleep!

Goodnight,
Kyle

blessings aplenty :)

So I realized tonight how good I’ve had it up to this point in my life.

I’m blessed to have been born into a thriving and dependable family in the greatest nation on earth.
My parents aren’t divorced. I have a bed and a roof.
We are blessed to be in the 60% of humans who actually get to eat at least one meal per day.
And by the grace of God my father accepted a transfer to Pace, Florida twelve years ago.

So Allie and I we’re out and about after work tonight as usual, and we stopped by to see our long lost friend Erika whom I haven't seen in probably two months. Afterwards we stopped by Walgreen's to pick up some sunglasses for the beach tomorrow (and Allie got “Bumpits,” this supposedly awesome hair tool). On the way home I saw Pace Patriot Boulevard, and I just thought about good ole Pace High School. So we stopped by to just see the school and sure enough the gate to the field was open! We passed the old field house, the red concrete all speckled from cleats, the gazebo, and we eventually made it to the 50 yard line. It was mind boggling to stop and think about how many hours I had spent on that field; Every Thursday football practice (and the end of some Wednesday practices too), every Gasser ran after weightlifting, every football game, track meets, Relay for life, I could seriously go on forever.

Then I thought about graduation. How we all were there together for one last time. How we got our diplomas, dipped in one last Alma mater, and we all threw our hats.

I thought about relationships with teachers and administrators: How I know most every teacher on campus and have a relationship with them.

I thought about homecoming and how we all really came together for the first time and had the best skit Pace High School had ever seen! I thought about field days and how we would all try to escape haha.

I thought about pep rallies, the twirlers, the football players.

I thought about those cool fall nights in the stadium all huddled up with my best friends under a blanket, yelling ‘till I couldn’t yell anymore. And smelling that smell in the air that only fall can bring. You know the one that I mean.

And then I thought about how we will never have any of these things ever again.

We took the time right before we left to pray for the school, that everyone that walked through the doors of PHS would have the same indescribable experience that we had. We prayed for the upcoming senior class and for leaders to reveal themselves this upcoming year. Last but most DEFINITELY not least we prayed for Mr. Lay. Whether you agree with his actions regarding consent decrees or not, one thing is certain: he IS Pace High School. He is the one who has allowed us to have the clubs that we had and the memories that you and I share, and it is a sad day for the ENTIRE community when that man leaves the halls of that school.

At this point I cried like a baby all the way to the car. Thank God I had tissues :)

Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, we are blessed to live in this special place. I have been inspired to reach for the stars by my peers and teachers, shared experiences that I will never forget, and made friends that I know I will have for the rest of my life. It was after I realized these things that I realized that I am truly blessed. I know its cliché but its true: money doesn’t buy happiness. It doesn’t buy long-lasting relationships, and it can’t buy the experiences and memories that Pace High School has given me. Make fun of me all you want but I’m about to say it: there truly is no better place to live. Yeah I’ll eventually go off, be stationed somewhere and start a family, but mark my words: my children will grow up here. They WILL experience the emotions and joy of finding a new friend and acing a Coach Martin test, and they will experience the sorrow and let down of the Patriots losing a OT thriller by one point. That’s just the way it’s gonna be.

Well I hope everyone sleeps well and don’t forget to count your blessings!
GOD IS GOOD!

Feel-Good Friday :)

Hey all,

So today started out really well! I woke up early this morning and met Mary at the track for a little morning exercise! We walked a mile and ran one too. We then stopped by Chickfila for a healthy yet hearty breakfast of eggs. Afterward we went on an adventure to walmart because Mary needed some female products and then we stopped by the doctors so she could pick up a prescription. Oh what a good friend I am :)

After yet another afternoon filled with a nap and a hot steamy pile of nothing I headed back to UWF to finalize some AF ROTC paperwork and officially declare my major to be Mathematics! Everyone at UWF is so friendly and eager to help me with anything I ask for. I’m so pumped about college!

Another HUGE reason I’m pumped about college is the friend situation. I’m not sure where I stand with some of my friends right now and I’m beginning to feel like I’ve “barked up the wrong tree” when it comes to friendships. Lately I’ve felt like a second class friend, and Lord knows that’s not what I need right now. So I am PRAYING that in college- which is a fresh, clean slate- I will be able to make solid friendships and find one true friend that can be a solid rock for me regardless of who else they can hang out with and regardless of what else is going on; I need one faithful friend that I can depend on no matter what!

Anyway, this evening Logan, Allie, Mary and I went out for a night on the town haha. We began at the Pelican’s game and ended up on Allie’s trampoline. It was a relaxing night, just looking up at the stars and listening to the crickets chirp in the damp summer air. It was so peaceful; I enjoyed it so much that I almost fell asleep out there! It made me realize that we need to go on another camping trip soon before everyone packs up and heads for college!

Well I work tomorrow. Come visit!

Goodnight,
Kyle

Trekkish Thursday (?)

Hey all,

So today the fam and I made our annual pilgrimage to the blueberry farm out in Molino. Although it was pretty hot and the giant bugs swarm at your head, it was fun! We picked 15 pounds of blueberries in about an hour- new record!

After picking we came home and I got cleaned up and went to Udub to check on some scholarship statuses (stati? I don’t know). Come August my money should start Rollin’ in! I’m so excited about college! Nothing like starting over on a clean slate. You have the ability to make new friends, leave your regrets behind, and even redefine how others portray you! Powerful stuff.

I also talked to Mrs. Bushway, a math department chair, about my major in math and AP credit. She is really nice and I look forward to a great relationship with my professors! Ah the joys of a small school :)

After my Udub trek I had to go to work. It was decent, nothing to complain about. Customers were decent, and we had a really good crew. Everyone was chipper all night too! Oh I almost forgot some lady came through drive through and demanded a “mickfiletfish.” That was funny. Partly cause “Mickfilet” sounds like “chickfila” and partly cause people are so retarded it brings me to tears. Happy tears though.

After work I played a little NCAA, but couldn't get into it. Now I'm here.

Well everyone enjoy your sleep! Crap I forgot I’m meeting Mary at 9 to go run at the PJC track! Got to go sleep!

Night,
Kyle

Wonderful Wednesday.

Hey all,
So I had a really good day! I had my bible study and then worked out with ole Gilad… you can tell he’s getting old but its ok. I have him on tivo ;) After that I got a shower and watched the old Batman and Robin movie with George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Pretty good for its time. I then played a little NCAA football. I started a dynasty with Buffalo, a team in desperate need for good leadership. Luckily Coach K. Cox saved the day. We finished up our second season with the record of 14-1. And I played on Heisman difficulty too. No restarts. It wasn’t hard though cause they’re a WAC team but still…

I then went to LaHa with the fam…I know two days in a row but it’s still amazing. I met up with Mary after dinner and had a blast. We ended up at Allies with Sean Fagan, Mary, Carson, Allie, and myself. We just chilled for a while doing normal stuff, like watching a YouTube video of some woman smashing watermelons, cans, and slabs of tile with her humongous breasts. Nothing unusual, really :)

And now I’m here. I should be sleeping but the insomnia bug has really been biting me lately. Only a few days left till I get texting back! In the meantime I can now accept phone calls from my cell. Hope everyone is sleeping well!

Goodnight,
Kyle

Yet another letdown...

Some people I can read like a book. But sometimes I just cant figure some people out.

For instance, Sarah Palin. She’s a no-brainer. The latest gallup polls show her to be the most popular Republican alive right now. So she’s just gonna resign from politics? I think not. Her resignation was very strategic: she would leave now because let’s face it, who wouldn’t get bored sitting in a cold, cloudy Alaskan office building all day. What’s more, she just jumped out of the national limelight with good ole John McCain! The last several months in office are a joke anyway. Nothing ever gets passed. Crap, I’d resign too. But she’ll be seeking the GOP nomination in 2012, mark my words.
I’d bet anything on it.

So I’m pretty good at deciphering national political jargon, but yet I can’t seem to understand some of my friends. Why can't we live our lives drama free? Why do people enjoy drama so much? Does it make you feel important?! AHHH! Who knows.

I thought I found what I was looking for, but I guess not.

Why is life so hard sometimes? I know God answers prayer, but sometimes I wish he’d answer faster.

Sorry to be so gloomy, but life isn't always happy I guess.

Waiting Patiently,
Kyle

Tenacious tuesday (?)

Hey All,
I have got to quit being so lazy. I woke up at noon today only to realize that I had to meet Allison for lunch in an hour! Determined to not be such a fatty, I worked out with my long lost friend Gilad (who was VERY happy to see me haha). I got a shower, put some checks in the bank, and high-tailed it to LaHa. We had an awesome time just talking about our futures and our friends. She also gave me some girl advice (haha) and we just pondered about life for a while. Allison, I had an awesome time with you today! You’re a wonderful girl and you’ll do great at FSU next year!

In other news…
I have no cell phone till the 11th. Boo. Oh well, that’s ok. I now know that Instant messaging IS NOT free on at&t, no matter what anyone(even at&t) tells you. I’ve never gone over my texting limit by 900 messages before haha….
So anyway, if you need to get ahold of me before the 11th, you can facebook me or call me at home 995.0535.

I forgot to tell you all my work schedule this week. You probably don’t care but here it is anyway: Thursday 3-close, Saturday 3-close.

Now to the good stuff…
I’m reading through the book of 1 Corinthians right now. It’s an awesome book filled with tons of noteworthy verses. God has spoken to me more times that I can count through this letter. I won’t go into major detail but today I read 1 Corinthians 10:7. It really struck me deep. I'm not gonna tell you what it is because I want you to look it up! So read it and let me know what you think! God is awesome!

Well, since I don’t work today I’ll be at the house reading ‘till around dinner at which point I’ll do the dishes and chill with some friends hopefully. Call me! We can hang out.

He lives in me!

Mellow Monday

Hey all,

So im really enjoying blogging! And thanks to my first subscriber/stalker Cody Sowell! Cody, I have no idea how you found my blog cause half the time I dont know how to find it haha. But I appreciate the subscription!

Ok, so I walked around with a notepad today writing down all of the noteworthy things that happened. It's nothing special but it's my life! If you don't like it, you can leave! but please like it....

Now I can't find my notebook... crap....ok! Here it is.

So up until about 3:00pm today my life consisted of cinnamon toast crunch, tv, and no clothes. But I had to go into work at Chickfila! So I got a shower, put on some smell good, and got in the car. I have got to get a life.

So on my way to work I got a visit from a long lost friend by the name of Phil Wickham. He came and sang a few songs to me. It was then that I realized its time to reprioritize my life. Sometimes all it takes is a good friend to get you back on track. God is good.

So at work I got to see my good friend K-Flo, whom I dearly miss. Our schedules seem to conflict 24/7, but we are determined to eventually get together soon. I also saw my good ole manager from christmas past, Tabitha Webb AKA "Tabirtha" (get it?! she was pregnant haha I am too funny) Anyway, I forgot how much I missed her and her twitching/rolling/fluttering left eye. haha all in good fun Tabirtha. Crap, you'll probably never read this anyway...

Also, my other manager Kim was at work tonight! She taught me vital pickpocketing skills and somehow I tackled her in the crossfire. She said I broke her diaphragm. Sorry Kim!

So I got off of work at 6 tonight because I had a meeting with the Pilot Club of Milton. They presented me with a scholarship, which I am very grateful for. Thanks Pilots!

I also came to the realization that I am getting flabby and eating too much crap. I have enjoyed my summer too much and Gilad is not happy with me. Time to get back to the ole grind...

Goodnight!
Kyle

Huckabee is my hero

Hey all,

So I'm determined to read this summer. I started off my summer reading with Mike Huckabee's most recent book, From Hope to Higher Ground: My Vision for Restoring America's Greatness. In it Huckabee shows how America has declined not only in the financial realm of the world, but also how we have declined morally and ethically as well. Like any upstanding leader he not only points out the problem, but he gives us twelve steps for becoming the great nation we once were as well.

I can't speak for you, but I for one am relieved that someone- democrat or republican- cares about the fate of our great nation. Sometimes it seems that Americans get so caught up in Hollywood hookups, breakups, and deaths that we don't stop and realize what our government is actually doing.

Ok back from my rant... another reason Huckabee is my hero. Question: how many candidates for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination could do this?

Answer: three.

I wouldn't mind calling Mr. Huckabee President Huckabee in 2012...

Another Question: Why does Huckabee have lower approval ratings than Sarah Palin?

Answer: I have no stinking Idea.

My first blog

Hey all,

Welcome! I'm so pumped to start a day-by-day blog that sheds a little light on my life and how I live it. So without further ado, let me introduce myself. My name is Kyle Cox. I have been told that I am funny (like a clown), bold (like a coffee), attractive (haha I told myself that), and somewhat abrasive (like sandpaper). I graduated from Pace High School in Pace, Florida on May 30th. I truly do believe that high school has been the best time of my life thus far, and I'd kill for my friends. I live with my mom, dad, and brother. We don't always see eye to eye, but who does?

Wanna talk faith? I am a Christian. I believe that Jesus Christ is our one and only savior and solely through Him are we saved. I don't know all that there is to know about Christ, and if you say you do thats a lie haha.

Wanna talk politics? I am a registered Independant. I believe that we are our own greatest enemy. Political factions are the demise of our great nation, and unless something changes really fast we will tear ourselves apart from the inside out.

Wanna talk about animals? I believe there is nothing better than a loyal dog. (poodles, shih-tzus, and pomeranians excluded) Scratch that, a dead cat is just as good. Just playing but really...

Wanna talk about food? I love food and am a sucker for cake. Funfetti is best :)

Wanna talk about personality? I am always open to trying new things! Be it a game, making new friends, trying a new food, etc.

Wanna talk about anything else right now? nah, me either.

Well I am tired and I have a brain fart. So if I think of anything else I'll post it!
